Ankle boots/bottie.

Okay, after an extensive search for this fall ankle boots/booties. I've selected these 4 ankle boots/booties. In choosing these boots/booties, I looked for style, make, fit, and comfort.

Ankle boots/booties are hot fashion statement this fall. They vary in style, color, fabric, size, and a wide range of prices. These boots/booties can be incorporated in any of your style look that you're trying to create.

You can wear them with almost any outfit like that, boyfriend jeans, pencil skirt, maxi skirt, pants, leggings, and even with a dress,

From the five selective styles that I've shown you above. I selected the red ankle boot/bootie, by
Impo from Stein Mart. I choose this boot because of the style, fit and color. I bought it in a size 8 1/2. The fit is pretty true to size. They were comfortable and the heel height was comfortable for me. With the platform on these boots, you don't really feel the heel height. These are available sizes 6 - 10.

The boyfriend jeans

 

The boyfriend jeans has always been a favorite of mine. This fall, these are another must have for your closet. You can wear these jeans in so many ways, and to many occasions. You can wear them with an oversize sweater or sweatshirt. Whether you're out shopping, out to lunch with your girlfriends, or out on a date with that special someone. Depending on how you accessorize these jeans they will fit almost every occasion. You can layer it, or you can wear it with that favorite silk blouse or a tee-shirt  I love wearing them with a layered look.  However,you decide to wear these jean, They jeans will always look good.

In my look below I choose to wear a layered look.

Styling note: Boyfriend jeans are from Forever21. I bought them in a size 16. The fit, I've got big thighs and a small waistline. It was a bit snug in the thigh area (but not uncomfortable), the wait was a bit big, I'll have to have them taken in. The sweatshirt (sold out) I found at JCP. I bought the 3x, because I wanted that oversize look. I cut out the neckline(there are a lot of youtube video on how to achieve this effect), so that I could get that off the shoulder effect. The blue tank I wore underneath, I've had it for a while. The necklace earrings, and bracelet (last year) are from Cato. In the second look, I just changed the look by adding a pair of  New York Transit sliver wedge heel strappy sandals(last year). from DSW.


            


             

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

The Moto jacket.

 

 

 

The Moto jacket is definitely a piece that you want to have in your closet this fall, this jacket is definitely gag worthy. Once you lay eyes on one, and definitely, if you try one on, you won't want to leave the store without one.  They're are several retail shops that are carrying these jackets. They come in a variety of styles, fabric, and colors. The prices vary depending on style and m\fabric (real leather or leather look). Depending on your budget, you'll have wide variety to choose from. These jackets are a thing of beauty and depending on which ones you select (leather or leather look), you can wear these jackets for the next several years. Once you touch, feel, and OMG, try one on, and you will not want to leave the store without one.

After visiting several stores, I decided to purchase mine from Forever21, I know like me many of you are on a budget, but still want to look good. There are several retail stores that are carry these or similar jackets. I'll list a few here for you, Lane Bryant, Simplybe This jacket have a good weight and feel to it. The fit is very snug and true to size, I'm usually between a 1x and a 2x, but in this jacket I had to get a 3x. As you can see in the pictures below, the fit is exact on me I'm very busty and small in the waist, I think this is why I needed to get the 3x. So, if your not as busty as myself, you maybe able to either stay in your size or may need to go up a size. It also depends on if your going wear your jacket zipped or open. Whatever style you choose or how you choose to ware this jacket I know once you purchase one, you will be happy. I know that I'm very happy with mine. "Excuse me",(LOL) I was feeling sexy and loving my jacket.

Styling: I paired my jacket with a leather look skirt, and floral print baby doll top, also from Forever 21..I'll do another post detailing the skirt and the top. How old is too old?

There are so many myths and taboos out there about what a women of a certain age wears. As I get older and wiser, I'm learning to define my sense of style, and embrace my curves.
There's really no age limit of style and fashion, and there's no age limit on what a woman chooses to wear. Its should be about how comfortable that woman is feeling about what she's wearing.
The only suggestion that I would give to you is, there's a time and place for every outfit. If the occasion calls for the outfit and you're confident enough to wear it...then wear it.

Note: I can't stress enough, Undergarments, Undergarments, this is key that makes or breaks an outfit. Remember, we as curvy girls have all eyes on us when we step out into the eyes of the world. Please invest in a few good bras and shapewear(ex...spanks). Starting with what you put on under your outfit will  keep your looks polished.
                            
Style notes: I love, love this black romper from forever 21. I got it in a 2x, the largest size it comes in is a 3x. Its pretty true to size, but depending on how you're proportioned you could fit this romper if you were a size 4x. The lace sleeves are pretty fitted, the bodice and the pant were a little loose fitting. Here are three looks in this romper. I added a tan belt with silver embellishment on the buckle to match the silver accessories that I'm wearing, I also chose a tan bootie to match the belt. In the second look I changed to a black bootie. In the third look I took off the tan belt and just went with a straight black look, with silver accessories.

Stripes and Asymetrical hem lines

Stripes and asymmetrical hem lines are hot this season. I've noticed too, that quite a few designers are moving away from the traditional dark drab colors, and are add a array of colors to there designs. The styles that I put together in these pictures are your traditional black and white, but I added that splash of brilliant color for a twist.

    

    

Style note: For this outfit I choose a black and white stripe pencil skirt in a size 14/16 from Ashley Stewart. The fit was good, but for me it was a bit too roomy in the waist. The yellow top in a size 14/16, is also from Ashley Stewart. the fit was perfect. Accessories: blue necklace, bracelet and black fishnet hose are form Cato. The navy blue suede booties is from shoe dazzle (last year).

I loved the way this dress fit, I got it in a size 14/16. Accessories: yellow necklace is from Cato , yellow and silver bangles are from Body Central . the shoes is from Shoe Dazzle (two years ago)

Fall Trends and Style Ideas

As we move quickly into the fall and winter season. I will share with you style trends, from the
runway and magazines.

As I watched the different show case videos from 2014 NY Fashion Week. I notice that several looks are making a comeback. In this post I will share with you some style choices

I never thought I would be wearing and loving a jumpsuit. This one came from Forever 21, in a size 2x. I usually wear a 1x, but, I got this in a 2x. I wanted to be sure that I had enough room in the inseam, so that the crotch wouldn't ride up. This comes in 1x to 3x. I recommend sizing up for a good fit. You can get it here. I accessorized my outfit with gold jewelry. The earrings are from body central, The gold shoes are from Justfab. (last year) 

 

This burgundy peplum dress is also form Forever 21. This is a style that I've always loved, and I've gotten the pleasure to see it make its back to being a very popular trending piece. I got this in a 2x, again for comfort. I is very fitted, but comfortable, because the fabric is soft and have a goof bit of stretch to it. I accessorize it with gold jewelry (necklace, earrings) from body central. The pink belt is from Rainbow. The multicolor pink shoes (last year) are Jessica Simpson, from DSW.

Dress for a Perfect Fit, Not a Number

We have to dress for fit, and not for size.

As I browsed the stores and looked at the latest fashion trends, a thought came to my mind:

We as women, including myself, are so caught up on the number on that garment. We stress and worry more about the number rather than fit and comfort. I see a lot of women walking around wearing clothes that are not the right fit for them. Ladies we have to get out of this mind set.

Keep in mind that they’re several different sizing charts that a manufacture or a designer uses. There’s also another factor, the fabric. With these two factors in mind the fit of a certain size will vary across the board. I’ll give you a few examples. Linen will fit differently than Polyester, because Linen fabric doesn’t give (stretch). Polyester may give (stretch) a little more. Also fabrics that have Lycra (stretch) tend fit more freely.

As for me, I keep this in mind when I’m shopping. I can wear a 14 to a 18. I’ll give you a few examples of my personal encounters as I shop at different stores and try on different brands. I may purchase a dress form Ashley Stewart, in a size 14. If I go to Macy’s or JCPenny, for a similar dress I may have to purchase a size 16 or 18. Again, this is due to brand, manufacture, and the fabric that was used to make that garment.

I decided to write this article because I know this is something that most of us women are struggling with. For me, I do get caught up at times with that number on the garment. But, I’m finding comfort in accepting the size that I am. More importantly, I want to look good in whatever I choose to wear. I want to wear the garment, I don’t want the garment to wear me.

I’ll leave you with this final note. Remember, it 's all about fit and comfort. We want to look good once we step out for the world to see us. Keep this thought in mind also, one size doesn’t fit all. If a garment has Lycra you can go down one or two sizes, but you’re not supposed to be busting out at the seams .

Here are examples of two dresses, same size and similar fabric and style.

The Blue/Black dress is from Lane Bryant, its a size 14/16. It has a bit of stretch to the fabric, so it
was loose and comfortable. If it came in a size 12, I could probably do a size 12 comfortably. I accessorized this dress with Gold jewelry, black lace stockings, black belt, and pink booties. You can find the dress in stores, or on line www.lanebryant.com

  

The Black/White dress is from Cato, it a size 16. This dress also has a bit of stretch to the material, but not as much as the Blue/Black dress. I accessorized this dress with navy blue jewelry and navy blue booties.  what I didn't show here in the picture, is the hard time I had getting into this dress. I literally had to squeeze myself into this dress, it was even harder to take off. After I got it on, I think that I looked good in it, but is was not a comfortable fit. The arm hole and the neckline was very tight, and when I sat it was not comfortable. You can find this dress in stores, or online at www.cato.com  So again  ladies, its all about personal preference, whether you want to wear that dress for the number on the tag or wear it for comfort. For me I want to look good, but I also want to be comfortable in what I wear.   Thanks for reading.
